House > Janitorial Products > Flooding Pumps Flooding Pumps at Budget Packaging offers two of the most powerful flood pumps for handling the most demanding recovery occupations, yet it is easy to use! These Flood Pumps were created particularly for water recovery with a strong vacuum motor that extracts liquids at the rate of 5 gallons per minute!
A. THE VALVE The EVEREADY DELL valve is the best & most sophisticated backwater valve in the marketplace. It needs no change in your current plumbing system, other than cutting into the existing sewer piping outside the house. The valve responds instantaneously to sewer back flow and stops it completely before it has an opportunity to enter your home. The flood-valve closes MECHANICALLY and the GREATER the water RISES, the TIGHTER the valve closes. The valve requires no electricity, therefore it functions during power failures. When the flooding-valve is closed, the excess water and waste is diverted thru the by-pass valve to the ejector pump.
Many of the pumps sent into handle Sandy are so called dry-prime designs. They use a compressor to blast air through a tube referred to as a venturi--after the Italian scientist Giovanni Battista Venturi, who perished in 1822. That produces a vacuum that pulls air out of the pump and sucks in water through a hose, just like somebody using a straw to drink soda. Within the pump is a spinning impeller, resembling a fan, that pushes the water into a discharge hose. These pumps work well when the machinery can be placed close enough to avoid having to raise water more than about 28 feet.

Luckily, there are water-jacketed, bigger diameter submersiblethat even match "premium motor efficiencies," such as these used on some of the Xylem Flygt N-Impeller pumps (see Fig. 1). This Flygt pump/motor uses an internal water (with glycol) jacketed cooling program, circulated by a built-in propeller. The pump consumer, or his consultant, should get and compare the real pump motor efficiencies for the workable pump sellers under consideration. pump-fig1-1303ww.jpg Fig. 1. Rain for Rent's option for Omaha's excess CSO was a two-station pumping job. In less than one week from the initial contact, Rain for Rent designed and deployed the first pump station to handle 100,000 GPM. The station utilized one DV600c, three HD-600 and three ES600 pumps to extract water from a culvert in the storm sewer program. That effluent was then discharged to the river via a custom made diversion flume lined with 40mm EPDM lining and K-rails. Installers and operators dubbed the custom discharge flume "the huge slip and slide."
